Introduction of college: This college is one of the 265 institutions run by Shri Shivaji Education Society Amravati.The society was founded by former Union Agriculture Minister, Late Dr. Panjabrao alias Bhausaheb Deshmukh in the year 1932 with the aim of imparting education to the rural strata of the society in the Vidarbha region.

The college is affiliated to RTM Nagpur University since its inception and has been acclaimed as a premier institution of higher learning. Blessed with spacious and sprawling campus, artistically constructed premises, excellent play ground, auditorium, library with rich collection of books, the college with its competent galaxy of staff has rendered yeomen service in the cause of higher education for nearly four decades. The college is well equipped with Audio visual facilities, Language laboratory, Students facilities centre, the state of the art Science laboratories and Computer centre. The college endevours to fulfill its mission through its various limbs such as Internal Quality Assurance Cell, Research Cell, Training and Placement Cell , Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Career Guidance Cell, Women's Cell, Alumni Association, Parent-Teachers Forum, Students Subject Societies, Teacher Guardian Scheme etc.

The foundation society introduced Pre-University Science Classes in Dhanwate National

College in 1960-61 with a view to encourage and provide science education and develop it into a well organised Faculty of Science in due course, in the same college. In the year 1967, science faculty became an independent Science College.

The college is situated in Congress Nagar, near Ajni Railway Station, Nagpur. Main Building,

Dr. Bhagyashree Survey Smruti Vidnyan Bhavan and Central Building (annexe) are provided for Main stream students, Computer Science students and Microbilogy/ Biotechnology students. Strength of the students. When Pre-University clases were introduced in 1960-61, the number of student's was only 50. During the session 2010-11 the strength of the students was 2633. The college has successfully completed 45 years of its service in the cause of education. At the same time, the college has achieved a sound academic progress. Every year our students are securing the highest honours in Board and University Examinations. The college has achieved a unique and singular position in Central India and Maharashtra state in particular by producing excellent results. Taking into consideration, the tough competition for admission to professional courses, the college has devised its own teaching methodology “Shivaji Pattern” and implemented it successfully In the beginning the traditional subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany and

Mathematics were taught in the college. Today the college has facilities to teach Statistics,

Microbiology, Bio-technology, Geology, Electronics, Computer Science, Computer Maintenance and Geoexploration & Drilling Technology at the degree level. The college has sufficient class rooms and well equipped laboratories. In The college has started M.Sc. (Microbiology) from the session 04-05

B.Sc. Part – I-A Student who has passed H.S.S.C. Exam. (XII STD) of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary Education or any other examination equivalent thereto.

B.Sc. Part II- A Student who has passed B.Sc. Part I Examination of the RTM Nagpur University or an examination recognised equivalent thereto.

B.Sc. FINAL- A Student who has passed B.Sc. Part II Examination of the RTM Nagpur University or an examination equivalent thereto.

M.Sc. Microbiology - B.Sc. Degree of R.T.M. Nagpur University or any other statutory university with Microbiology as one of the subjects.
